HELLO, MY NAME IS ABDULBASIT​

Abdulbasit grew up in Nigeria, where intelligence greatly influenced one's chances of success. As a middle-class boy, he mingled with people from different social backgrounds, which exposed him to diverse ideas.
His exposure to various ideologies sparked his passion for storytelling, particularly through film. During his Senior Secondary School holiday, he attended a film program, learning film-making basics like script-writing, camera operation, directing, and editing. By the end of the program, he directed and acted in his first short film, Insecurity, which he posted on YouTube in 2016.
In 2017, he enrolled in the Communications & Multimedia Design program at the American University of Nigeria, where he deepened his knowledge of narrative film-making. For his 2021 Capstone project, Abdulbasit directed a 3-episode "Mukbang" TV series called Chitchat AUN.
After college, Abdulbasit started filming Foolstot, a documentary series sharing stories of personal struggles. He also worked at Inside9jeriaTV for 15 months, directing interviews and concerts. Abdulbasit went ahead to spend 4 months woking as videographer, Video Editor & Drone Pilot at Bestate Investment.
In 2023, he joined the Advanced Film-making program at Fanshawe College, filmed four documentaries, and four short films, learning the process of professional film-making from industry experts.
